The Flood 03:41
The storm is rolling in tonight The kids hide under their covers in fright Mothers watch their laundry blow And see the darkness begin to grow and grow The thunder calls like a loaded gun And soon we’ll all be washed clean so lets hold each other near The thunder calls like a loaded gun And soon we’ll all be washed clean Or so that’s what I thought my dear all the neighbors walked out on their porch with a frightened look on their face the rain falls down and down with a vicious grace (can you hear it roarin now?) and soon the storm will wash away this petty town and Noah will be laughing from his boat while we just sit and drown the lovers all swam hoping that they would just grow wings. They kiss quivering lips while redemption starts to sing Everybody’s got to pay the price of livin their life everybody's got to pay the price whether they're living it right. They say everybody sinks or swims But I’ll build a boat and let you in We won’t give in to this so called will I’ll cheat, I’ll steal, I’ll lie, I’ll kill Sinners are saviors if you ask me And we're living in a savage society The storm is rollin in tonight So say your prayers then turn out the light Shut your eyes nice and tight Cause you’ve got to pay the price for livin this life tonight you've gotta pay the price

Owls 06:08
I woke up to the summer breeze I heard a noise through the trees and it made my heart knock on my head I tiptoed down the set of stairs Sure that mother was not aware And I ran outside into the dark I fled to the nearest stream And felt my heart begin to scream Because my old soul knew what was to come Then I saw you through the trees Praying on your knees To a god who hadn’t said a thing. I hear the owl calling So I guess my time is up I hear the owl calling So I guess I'm out of luck The stars would not give me away There wasn’t much more I could say Except hope that I would just be saved I saw the owl look for me I was wishing I was free But I couldn’t find a way back home I tried to run and tried to hide I knew the sun would never rise And that the earth would soon become my bed And I shed a lonesome tear For all that big impressive fear So I stopped to take just one deep breath I hear the owl calling So I guess my time is up I hear the owl calling So I guess I'm out of luck Then I woke with great surprise I rose and saw with my new eyes I had grown a set of feathered arms And then I took off from the ground And I didn’t hear a sound Just my own soul singing to a bright new tune I found my way to your front door And I couldn’t want anything more Than to hold you in my arms till dawn You didn’t seem to know my face and I looked down at my feathered grace and realized that too much had changed

Ouroboros 03:58
this is never ending and i will never stop reinventing myself a victim of the cycle through the embers, i have my health we are living ouroboros there are borders we can't see we are living ouroboros this is our infinity bird of fire, i will rise but collapse back on myself, and fall to the ground a repetition i can't fight the bittersweet conflict to which i am bound we are living ouroboros there are borders we can't see we are living ouroboros this is our infinity the best i can do is grind my teeth and hope to like what eternity means the binding is tight and i may not be free but this vicious circle won't be the death of me

Autumn 04:05
The leaves are red and rotten And summer’s all but forgotten And your hand is a glove for mine Fingers cold and intertwined The wind is weaving curious webs Through copper roads we’ll take instead Of the old dirt path we thought we’d see And I’m so happy you’re here lovin me Autumn has come Autumn has come Sweetheart, I can’t believe The way you make my lungs need to breathe You remind me of October I hope the month repeats over Here put on your fall sweater Let’s go outside together We’ll walk and walk for days Until winter pushes us away Autumn has come Autumn has come

about

Slack Tide I is the first in a series of four EP's by Minneapolis' own Snakes Swallow Tails. The songs feature the band's trademark sparse acoustics, vibrant electrics, tumultuous drums, and ethereal vocals.
